On the wall

Mar 30, 2011

A bit of the top of the Kitchen Cupboard and my new turquoise plastic cups

Made by HART... remember them?  They are plastic and what a colour.
And my cut glass milk jug with matching sugar bowl and a butter dish  - in the fridge with butter in it.

Sacred Ibis

Driving between Montague and Riversdale this weekend

Coastline and plastic

All the bits of plastic I see on the coast always make me think of this chap called Simon who does installations with found plastic to raise awareness about plastic in our oceans.  More on his work here.

Flotsam - worn down by the sea

I have no idea what this piece of wood was but the layers have been beautifully worn and bleached by the sea and the sun.

Shaka Zulu and his leaping Antelope

Well thumbed copy of Shaka Zulu
My Antelope leaping sketches printed on 100% recycled card

** According to Zulu Culture there should probably be leoperds here as this is the skin worn by the chiefs but as there are very few left in South Africa I'd rather include the antelope.  See here for more information www.landmarkfoundation.org.za

On the huletts sugar packet

My new favourite place

is a wood yard called Forest Creations out in Wetton.  Grant has it all  - it's like hitting the jackpot.  Though I just missed the cork but got some lovely pieces of aromatic cedar, yellow-wood and wild olive among others.

But look at this piece of Ika Wood that was salvaged from under the sea - it used to be jetty.  The wiggly lines are were marine creepy crawlies where living.

AMAZING.

Peacocks for the penguins and a few extra just because

Treated myself to 4 new necklaces at Mr Price for the ridiculous sum of R100 in total.  The peacocks will be worn for the penguins tomorrow at the Simonstown Wedding.  Love the blog too http://www.inthefashionloop.com/

Thank you China - sorry local industry

New critters

Purchased these from Church Street Antiques market today

The Reindeer is mother of Pearl.  Bambi is a solid silver pin and from the 1930's and that magical little seahorse is carved from bone and probably from the 50's.
